Findmypast adds New Brunswick, County Deed Registry Books Image Browse

This browse-only collection includes images of deed registry books and indexes. The material covers 1780 to 1993. The deed books cover 1780 to 1930. Indexes run from 1780 to 1993.

You need to know the name, county and approximate date to use this dataset effectively. With that you can refer to the appropriate index book for the county and period and find indentures grouped by surname. Locate the name and find the type of record, volume and page number. The page number is that printed on the page, not necessarily that of the Findmypast image although it is likely close.

Depending on the type of record and when it was created, you may be able to find various details about your ancestor’s land. The deed books are handwritten, some have been transcribed.

The indentures recorded in the deed books may provide the following:

Grantor
Grantee
Date
Occupations
Amount of money or land exchanged
Location and legal description of land
Justice of the Peace who approved the indenture
Names of witnesses
