Benchmarks update for October 2012

Here are some benchmarks for genealogy sites as of 31 October 2012. Comparable figures a month ago are shown in brackets. The higher the Alexa ranking the more popular the site.

Familysearch.org has 1,306 (1,302) record collections: census & lists 118 (118); birth, marriage, & death 813 (813); probate & court  109 (106); military 98 (98); migration & naturalization 67 (66); other 101 (101). It has Alexa rank 4,312 (4,207).

Ancestry.com has Alexa rank of 612 (624); ancestry.co.uk ranks 6,661 (7,485) and ancestry.ca ranks 27,943 (27,631). There are 31,035 (30,892) datasets in the collections including 1,934 (1,932) for Canada, 1,451 (1,318) for the UK and, 25,008 (24,992) for the USA.

Findmypast.co.uk has an Alexa rank of 20,822 (21,136). Findmypast.com ranks 72,103 (70,120).

Family Tree DNA has 396,357 (392,433) records in its database. It ranks 33,092 (37,071) on Alexa. 23andMe ranks 34,464.

GenealogyinTime.com ranks 27,533 (29,999); Mocavo.com has rank 40,982 (45,172)

Britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk claims 5,878,403 (5,741,158) pages digitized,  4,427 pages per day. Alexa rank 136,925 (131,346).

Cyndislist.com claims 325,094 (323,109) total links in 191 (190) categories, with 1,803 (1,904) uncategorized. Alexa rank 75,639 (79,160) .

FreeBMD has 221,265,710 (220,463,424) distinct records, Alexa rank 63,562 (66,368).

UKBMD provides 2,368 (2,367) links to web sites that offer on-line transcriptions of UK births, marriages, deaths and censuses. Alexa rank 237,350 (219,988).

CanadianHeadstones.com has over 508,000 (486,000) gravestone photo records from across Canada. It scores 431,454 (406,163) in Alexa traffic rank.  The Canadian Gravemarker Gallery, with over 663,000 photographs from across Canada, searchable online at gravemarkers.ca, ranks 519,431.

bifhsgo.ca ranks 781,685 (731,412). qfhs.ca makes a big jump in rank to 2,157,321 (3,756,174) as does ogs.on.ca ranking 169,048 (205,273).

And in case you're curious: while Anglo-Celtic Connections had more visitors in October than since June, and has 4,033 (3,944) posts, it continues to tumble in Alexa rank to 215,121 (209,954).
